Billy Reeves formed the band The Audience for a bet in the mid nineties, fortunately meeting Sophie Ellis-Bextor two days later at The Garage, Islington who would become the groups singer. The band reached 12 in the UK album charts. In 2000 he signed to Sony with the group ‘Yours’ but this project was violently curtailed by joy-riders that hit his Morris Minor at 99 mph. A long coma, many operations and a housebound year ensued.
In 2017 his Billy’s brother gave him two mini-discs that had been saved from the wreckage, including demos of songs he had forgotten – due to crash-related amnesia. These songs were moulded into an album, ‘Afters’ by Reeves, Mark Morris (The Bluetones), Mark Peters (of Engineers), and Crayola Lectern.
The Helicopter of the Holy Ghost released the highly acclaimed album ‘Afters’ in 2021. The album reached #14 UK Independent charts, #26 UK vinyl charts and was released by K-Scope Records.
In 2022 whilst suffering a sprained ankle Reeves took to the studio and the resultant album “Nostalgia Of The Future” was released by Last Night From Glasgow records. The album features Microdisney / Scritti Politti keyboard maestro Rhodri Marsden and briefly, Reeves’s showbiz pal Justin Hawkins.
Billy returned in April 2024 with brand new album “Steve” also released by Last Night From Glasgow.
